- Building a good relationship with forests -

The wood used for our clogs comes from sustainable forests where planting and felling are managed. Young trees absorb a lot of CO2, so planned felling and planting protects the forest ecosystem.

In particular, to preserve and utilize local resources, we actively use thinned cypress wood from local Shizuoka prefectures. Natural wood like this never has exactly the same grain (pattern) or color, even wood from the same tree, so each pair of shoes has a different look. At Mizutori, we believe that "because it's natural, there are bound to be differences," and we see this as a positive aspect of natural wood and incorporate it into our products as much as possible.

Mizutori's geta are mainly made of mahogany and sapele. These wood species are highly valued worldwide for their durability, but as they are made of wood, they can become scratched or chipped regardless of how often they are worn. Mizutori offers product maintenance instructions in advance, allowing you to enjoy the changes in the wood over time and use them for a long time.

Mizutori values ​​strong ties with the local community and manufactures products using the traditional division of labor system. By outsourcing each process, such as painting, wood processing, thong processing, sewing machine sewing, and printing, to specialists, we contribute to preserving local industry technology and revitalizing the region through economic circulation.

We are also working with artists and designers active in various fields and people from different industries to develop more original geta that meet the needs of the times.
